6/4/21  Fatemeh gave an oral presenetation entitled "Fully Automated Multi-Organ Segmentation of Female Pelvic Magnetic Resonance Images with Coarse-to-Fine Convolutional Neural Network", and Tom gave an oral presentation entitled "Towards automatic metastasis-directed therapy planning in a three-dimensional beam model using reinforcement learning" at Johns Hopkins Radiation Oncology Annual Scientific Retreat. Great work both! Fatemeh's presentation has won the 2nd place award. Congratulations!


5/21/21  Dr. Lee was invited as a plenary speaker at Korean Society of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (KoSAIM) Spring Conference and presented "Artificial intelligence in image-guided radiotherapy".

7/11/20  Sang Ho received MC2 Best Research Award with his PMB paper "Multi-view radiomics and dosiomics analysis with machine learning for predicting acute-phase weight loss in lung cancer patients treated with radiotherapy" in the KAMPiNA (Korean Association of Medical Physicists in North America) annual meeting. Congratulations!



6/30/20  Tom has been selected as the receipient of the 2020 AAPM Research Seed Funding Grant for his proposal entitled "Artificial intelligence-based decision support to improve the reproducibility of metastasis-directed therapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer". Congratulations!

7/20/2017  Khadija has joined the MICA lab. She is our medical physics resident in Radiation Oncology department, and has expertise in MR imaging and MR image processing. She will be working on imaging biomarker and MRI image analysis with radiomics and machine learning to predict radiation treatment outcome and toxicities. Welcome!

6/13/2017  Drs. Song, Burdette, and Lee's R01 grant on "PET-determined prostate brachytherapy dosing using intraoperative image-guidance" has been awarded. This grant will support our continuing effort to develop a multi-modal image guidance system for prostate cancer treatment by brachytherapy for next 5 years. Congratulations!

5/28/2017  Dr. Lee's paper entitled "Intraoperative Registered Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy (iRUF) for dose calculation during prostate brachytherapy: improved accuracy compared to standard ultrasound-based dosimetry" has been accepted for publication in Radiotherapy and Oncology (The green journal). Congratulations!


5/13/2017  MICA lab has presented one oral and one poster at Radiation Oncology Scientific Retreat held at Mt. Washington Convention Center. Adam's presentation on "Automatic segmentation of head and neck anatomical structures using deep learning" was awarded 3rd place best presentation. Congratulations Adam!

10/1/2016  MICA lab and Rayence Inc. have started a collaborative project on "Development of a software-based x-ray scatter correction algorithm for digital radiography". In this project, we will develop image processing algorithms that estimate and correct x-ray scatter from 2D radiography without using anti-scatter grid.

8/19/2016  Seyoun's paper entitled "Technical Note: SCUDA: A software platform for cumulative dose assessment" has been accepted for publication in Medical Physics. Congratulations!


7/31-8/4/2016  Seyoun successfully presented a poster and two talks on head and neck normal tissue toxicity prediction, post-implant dosimetry in prostate brachytherapy by x-ray and MRI fusion, and evaluation of tumor motion management strageties in radiotherapy by dynamic MRI at the 2016 AAPM annual meeting.

10/22/2014  Seyoun's paper on CT-CBCT registration with CBCT intensity correction has been accepted for SPIE Medical Imaging 2015. Congratulations! 

10/2/2014  Our first two RUF cases with RadVision were successfully completed. Three RUF sessions for each case were performed and dynamic dosimetry and adaptive planning were made.

9/11/2014   Elekta project on advanced CBCT reconstruction has started.

9/10/2014   Seyoun has presented the hardware-accelerated adaptive radiotherapy platform and demonstrated MICA-ART platform to the department.
